More than 100 local organizations received donations totaling $33,150 thanks to the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation.

The bank hosted The Great Give 150 initiative as part of its 150th anniversary.

Through the initiative, the foundation gave each employee $150 to donate to a charity of their choice within the bank’s footprint.

The donations went to causes and organizations focusing on animal welfare, community development, food security, crisis intervention, education and youth services, public safety, arts and culture, and more.

Bank officials said it was important to have employee input into organizations that were personally important to them.

“I was excited to be given the opportunity to select an organization where there’s a collective desire to do what’s right,” said Thomaston Savings Bank branch manager Huascar Beato.

Beato’s donation went to the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain.

He said he chose the foundation because it “actively promotes positive actions and meaningful change particularly in areas close to my heart like early childhood development.”

“The community commitment, kindness, and help demonstrated for those in need is nothing short of humanitarian.”
