Consumer & Business Confidence Up
Friday’s release of the University of Michigan Survey of Consumers was very welcome news. The index of consumer sentiment surged upward 4.6 points to a reading of 98.2, far above consensus estimates. It’s the best reading since mid-2007 and shows consumers are finally bullish on the present and have solid hopes for the future.
Coupled with Moody’s Analytics Surveys of Business Confidence, which are at record high levels, it give a real psychological boost for good economic expectations into 2015.
