One-third of IT professionals say they would take up to a 10% pay cut for the chance to work full time from home, according to a survey by the careers site Dice.com.

The average tech pro salary was $79,384 last year, says Dice, which means it’s worth $7900 on average to these employees to telecommute.

Another third said no to the idea of a pay cut in exchange for telecommuting; they would want the same pay whether they worked from home or not. Nine percent of respondents say they already telecommute.

Only 1% of the total jobs posted on its site mention telecommuting as an option, says Dice, adding that given the low unemployment rate for IT pros (4%) and talent shortages in certain IT areas, employers should be more flexible.
