NIOSH Safe Hearing Award Deadline Approaches
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is looking to recognize employers for their efforts in noise control and hearing loss prevention in the workplace.
The Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Awards are part of the agency’s annual recognition in partnership with the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation and the National Hearing Conservation Association.
Awards fall in two categories, excellence and innovation.
Hearing Loss Prevention
More than 22 million workers are exposed to hazardous noise levels at work annually, according to NIOSH.
OSHA does not require a hearing conservation program unless a company’s workers are consistently exposed to certain, but recognizes the importance of prevention in the workplace.
The excellence award recognizes employers who go out of their way to ensure the safety of employees’ hearing by implementing exemplary hearing loss prevention programs.
The innovation award recognizes individuals or organizations for their dedication to fostering, creating, and implementing new and unique advances in the prevention of hearing loss.
Winners will be showcased at the NHCA Conference in February 2024 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The deadline to nominate your company or individual for this award is Aug. 18, 2023.
