Starting January 1, businesses registered in Connecticut are required to file their annual reports with the Secretary of the State’s office online.

The new requirement is expected to make it easier to do business with the state and save taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.

Moving to an online platform is a “simple, common-sense step to modernize the way we perform the essential functions of state government,” said Secretary of the State Denise Merrill.

It’s also designed to be a “green” innovation by eliminating the use of at least two tons of paper processed by the state every year.

Secretary Merrill is encouraging businesses to go online now to her website to become familiar with the new system. Waivers will be made available to businesses without online access.
