Voters in 12 Connecticut cities and towns go to the polls August 9 to decide party candidates for three State Senate and nine State House election races.

Ten incumbent lawmakers—eight Democrats and two Republicans—face primary challengers.

Bridgeport hosts four of those races, with Democratic voters determining party candidates for two Senate and two House races.

Democratic primaries will also be held for a Senate race in New Britain and House races in Bristol, Hamden, New London, Stamford, and West Haven.

Republican primaries are scheduled for two House races: the 63rd District (Colebrook, Goshen, Torrington, and Winchester) and the 113th District (Shelton).

New or unaffiliated voters must register in person by noon on August 8 to be eligible to vote in party primaries.
