Democrat Corey Paris won the April 27 special election for Stamford’s 145th state House District.

Paris, the director of development for a Fairfield County nonprofit, defeated Republican JD Ospina, who serves on Stamford’s Social Services Commission, with approximately 76% of votes cast.

The seat became vacant when Patricia Billie Miller was elected to the state Senate last month.

Miller, who was then representing the 145th District, was elected to Leone’s seat in a special election March 2.

Democrats now hold 97 seats in the House to the GOP’s 54.

Republicans retained the 112th District seat in an April 13 special election.
