New poll results confirm what everybody feels: the top concerns in Connecticut are the economy and jobs. According to the latest Quinnipiac University Connecticut Poll, 43% of respondents said “the most important problem facing Connecticut today” is the economy (of that total, 32% specifically said unemployment and jobs). Placing second as a category was taxes, at 20%.
Virtually everyone responding to the poll said that Connecticut’s budget problems are “serious,” with 77% saying they are “very serious.”
Businesses know that the state’s fiscal condition has a big impact on their ability to create and keep jobs, and invest more in Connecticut.
The poll results underscore how critically important it is for state lawmakers to focus, focus, focus on doing everything possible this year to create an environment for job growth and economic development.
And that’s the message Connecticut employers are taking to the State Capitol today at Connecticut Business Day.
