“You don’t stay anywhere for four years unless you like it,” Richard Myers said.

Myers works as the farm manager for Green Village Initiative

The Bridgeport-based nonprofit uses urban gardening and farming to teach people about food, leadership, and community.

In addition to the farm, which supplies fresh produce to the community, the organization also has school and community gardens, and a youth program.

Myers said the range of programming benefits everyone in the community.

“I like giving everyone nutritious things that we don’t typically get in this neighborhood,” Myers said.

He said some of the challenges they face is the process of getting green space zoning approved to help their programs grow.
