Governor’s Business Tax Policy Group Meets

The Governor’s Business Tax Policy Task Force is meeting for the first time on Friday afternoon, March 16, at the State Capitol. Governor Malloy will open the meeting and be followed by presentations from State Tax Commissioner Kevin Sullivan and Economic Development Commissioner Catherine Smith.

Established by Executive Order 17, the task force will:

  • Identify specific areas of business taxation and other issues (including tax credits and other tax benefits) that should be the focus of future legislation and state economic policy.
  • Evaluate the cost, benefit, efficiency, effectiveness and measurable performance of the current business tax credit structure and its impact on jobs, economic development, and business retention and growth

The group will report its findings and recommendations to the governor by Oct. 1, 2012.
