House Speaker Brendan Sharkey (D-Hamden) has revived the Municipal Opportunities and Regional Efficiencies Commission (MORE).

Speaker Sharkey chaired the first commission in 2010 that brought together legislators, town officials, and others to find ways to help municipalities reduce costs and become more efficient.

This year, the new commission has four working groups that will focus on:

  • Municipal Tax Authority
  • Board of Education Functions
  • Regional Entities
  • Mandates

The groups will develop recommendations for legislative action over the next six weeks.
