Money for Manufacturers–$30 Million Worth

Issues & Policies

One of the wins for Connecticut manufacturers during the 2014 legislative session was the creation of the Manufacturing Innovation Fund.

The state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is charged with administering the $30 million fund in conjunction with an advisory board of manufacturers, stakeholders and DECD staff.

Funds will be used to encourage training, innovation and, in general, support manufacturers in Connecticut.

Now meeting to discuss and analyze the best way to promote innovation in Connecticut, the board also is aware of manufacturers’ immediate need to train both new and incumbent workers.

With manufacturers serving on the board, ideas for how to utilize the funds have been focused, practical, and designed to begin as soon as possible.

CBIA will continue to provide updates on how manufacturers can benefit from the fund once programs are finalized.
