Republican Wins 61st House

Republican Tami Zawistowski won a special election last week to fill a vacancy in the 61st House District caused by the passing of State. Rep. Elaine O’Brien. Zawistowski , a small business owner, now represents the district which includes East Granby, Suffield and parts of Windsor.
On Thursday, April 24 in Hamden and New Haven, there will be a special election to fill the 94th House District seat that opened when its previous representative, Gary Holder-Winfield, won a special election to the State Senate for the 10th District.
With Zawistowski’s election, the House has 54 Republicans and 96 Democrats, with the one remaining open seat in the 94th House.
