The Travelers Foundation awarded United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut a $325,000 grant to help close gaps and create opportunities for local children, adults, and families.

The foundation is the charitable arm of Travelers.

The United Way will use the grant money to support its mission of bringing together the right people and resources to ensure that children succeed academically and families achieve financial security.

“We are extremely grateful for the Travelers Foundation’s commitment,” said United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut president and CEO Eric Harrison.

“Transformative awards like this one help United Way expand its reach to create maximum community impact and meaningfully engage employees where they live and work.”

The Travelers Foundation uses three outcomes to focus its giving—academic and career success, thriving neighborhoods, and culturally enriched communities.

On top of the grant, Traveler said it also works with United Way to engage employees in special fundraising events across the country.

“Through their efforts to address complex issues and create positive change, United Way is building a stronger, more resilient future,” said Travelers Foundation assistant vice president Erin Haberman.
