CBIA’s BizCast team speaks with Adia’s Nicholas Gondek and Emily Turcan from Adia about the company’s focus on additive manufacturing.

Gondek is the director of additive manufacturing and Turcan is a strategic account manager.

Formerly known as ACT 3D Equipment and Services, the company rebranded as Adia earlier this summer.

The team helps large and small companies throughout various industries develop 3D printing solutions.

“We’re able to uncover a lot about organizations that they might not even be privy to,” Turcan said.

“They’ll bring a printer in for a certain application and overtime they’ll learn there are so many more things they can be doing, but part of our job is to sort of lead them in that direction, to get them to see the big picture and not hyperfocus on one application.”

The team has also helped Mystic aquarium create products for its reptiles and animals.

Recently, Adia partnered with various companies to create a harness for a sea turtle at the aquarium who suffers from a condition that causes its back end to tilt up.
