500 Jobs Added In June

Connecticut's pattern of steady job gains continued last month with the Department of Labor's release of its June jobs report.

"What we're seeing right now is sustainable job growth," says CBIA economist Pete Gioia, "but at a slow rate."

Connecticut added 10,600 new jobs year over year, and most areas of the state saw gains in the last month.

Even the Norwich/New London labor market, lagging the rest of the state for many months, finally added jobs in June.

Though Connecticut's unemployment rate inched up slightly in the last month, Gioia observes, it is down four-tenths of a percentage point over last year.

"Overall, this is another positive jobs report."
