With growth in seven out of ten major sectors and a gain of 6,300 jobs in April, the latest figures from the Department of Labor paint a more positive employment picture in Connecticut.

But the news is not all good, says CBIA economist Pete Gioia.

The private-sector workweek is shorter than it was at this time last year, Gioia notes, "and the labor force has shrunk 36,000 workers in the same period of time...And we've only gained back 47% of the jobs that we lost during the recession, so it shows we still have a long way to go."
