Mark Meador Named ConnectiCare President
ConnectiCare has appointed general counsel Mark Meador as its new president, overseeing the health plan’s business in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
The Farmington-based company announced the appointment June 2.
Meador joined ConnectiCare in 2019 as general counsel, and will continue to serve in that role.
“Mark is an experienced leader who deeply understands our business and the importance of working closely with policy, government, and business leaders,” said Michael Palmateer, President, Health Plans at the EmblemHealth family of companies.
“He has worked extensively in Connecticut’s regulatory environment and is uniquely positioned to represent us.”
‘Honored to Lead’
“I’m honored to lead ConnectiCare and continue the company’s legacy of community commitment,” Meador said.
Before joining ConnectiCare, Meador spent more than 20 years with Aetna in various executive positions.
He also held leadership positions with other insurance carriers, and worked for a private law firm in Atlanta, Georgia.
“ConnecticutCare has long been a partner in CBIA’s advocacy efforts as well as our employee health insurance benefits and we look forward to growing that relationship with Mark and his team,” said CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima,.
“I have great respect for Mark and enjoyed working with him in his previous role,” added CBIA Service Corp. president Ken Comeau.
“I’m excited to build on that relationship in his new capacity as we grow our important partnership to serve CBIA’s members and the Connecticut business community.”
Leadership Transition
Meador succeeds Roberta Wachtelhausen, who has served as interim president since November 2022.
Wachtelhausen is retiring from Connecticare.
“Bert is a visionary and innovative leader who has led a strong transition, and she has our gratitude as she enters this new chapter in her life,” said Karen Ignagni, CEO, EmblemHealth family of companies.
ConnectiCare is part of EmblemHealth.
Meador has a degree in economics from Emory University and graduated from Emory University School of Law.
