M&T Awards Grants to Local Nonprofits
M&T Bank will award $11.8 million in grants to 105 non-profit organizations in New England and Metro New York.
The grants are part of M&T’s Amplify Fund, a $25 million investment program through the M&T Charitable Foundation.
The fund uses a racial equity and justice lens to benefit low- and moderate-income communities and underrepresented populations.
“The Amplify Fund exemplifies our priorities of investing in underrepresented communities and empowering our neighbors to achieve their dreams,” said foundation executive director Dominique Goss.
The fund was launched in 2022 to drive sustainable impact that is equitable, accessible, and responsive to local needs.
The nonprofits include organizations that focus on community organizing, equity and environmental initiatives, and financial empowerment and education for individuals and small businesses.
Community Impact
Trust for Public Land, a New England nonprofit environmental organization, received a grant to fund its “Parks for People” initiative.
The organization develops outdoor park areas with a goal of creating park access for people in Bridgeport and Boston.
“Communities across New England are lacking in quality, close-to-home park access,” said Trust for Public Land associate vice president and Connecticut state director Walker Holmes.
“We’re grateful for M&T for their support of environmental justice and building healthier communities through connection to the outdoors.”
CBIA members are among the 105 organizations receiving grants, including:
- Forge City Works
- Women’s Business Development Council
- Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County
- Hartford Land Bank
- Hedco
- The Center for Family Justice
M&T is working with local leaders on the future of the Amplify Fund’s giving efforts in 2023 and beyond.
“M&T is so proud to support the incredible organizations doing critical on-the-ground work that truly makes a difference for so many people,” said Goss.
