Thomaston Savings Bank Donates $90K to Community Groups
The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation is continuing to make significant financial contributions to communities across Connecticut.
The foundation distributed more than $90,000 in grants during the first phase of its 2022 grant cycle.
Thomaston Savings Bank community outreach officer Cheryl Lindstrom said they are pleased to be in the position to offer grant funding.
“The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation is a wonderful resource for the agencies working hard to respond to the needs of our neighbors,” Lindstrom said.
“It fortifies the bank’s mission to respond to the human and material needs of the communities we serve.”
During phase one, the foundation reviewed applications from nonprofit and government agencies who are addressing needs in Bristol, Farmington, and Unionville.
The Plainville Community Food Pantry, Tunxis Community College Foundation, Girl Scouts of Connecticut, and city of Bristol were among the 31 grant recipients.
“We are very appreciative of Thomaston Savings Bank and all they do for us,” Plainville Community Food Pantry assistant director Justin Woerz said.
“The grant funding will go directly towards purchasing healthier food options, paper products, and additional items for our clients.”
The foundation awarded grants to other food pantries and community centers as well.
Recipients will use the funds to respond to human and material needs within their respective communities.
Since 1997, the foundation has been giving away funds annually to help charitable organizations in towns the bank calls home.
The foundation donated $406,430 during its three grant cycles in 2021.
It was the first year that the foundation chose to break the grant process down by location.
Phase two grants will be given to towns in Litchfield County, including Plymouth, and Torrington.
Applications are due by July 31, 2022.
New Haven County organizations will be eligible to receive grants during phase three.
