‘Girls Day’ at Academy of Engineering and Green Technology
Wednesday, February 24, 12:15 pm1:15 pm
Hartford Public High School, Room 206
The women engineers, who represent four companies and five different jobs, will briefly discuss what they do, what they enjoy about their work, their college experience, and why engineering is a great choice for women. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions.
Started in 2001 as a joint effort between the National Society of Professional Engineers, IBM, and National Engineers Week Foundation, “Girls Day” marks the 15th year of introducing more than a million girls and young women to engineering.
‘Introduce a Girl to Engineering’ is a national movement that shows girls how creative and collaborative engineering is and how engineers are changing our world.
The participating companies include: Connecticut Department of Transportation, AI Engineers, BVH Integrated Services, and Pratt & Whitney.
As a National Academy Foundation (NAF) school, Hartford Public High School’s Academy of Engineering and Green Technology is required to provide students with work-based learning experiences. The CBIA Education & Workforce Partnership works with the school to provide those opportunities and the Nepal Project is one of many ways that students gain that experience. The school is sponsored by United Technologies Corp.
Media wishing to attend the program should contact Meaghan MacDonald (860.244.1957).
