CBIA Response to July 2024 Employment Report
The state’s largest business organization issued the following response to today’s release of the July 2024 employment report.
“With an increase of 700 jobs, Connecticut continues its positive economic momentum,” said CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima.
“We have now seen seven consecutive months of job growth, with private-sector employment reaching an all-time high.
“On top of that, private sector wages are up 4.5% year-over-year—a sign that employers are doing all they can to provide opportunities and attract and retain Connecticut’s skilled workforce.
“With 90,000 open jobs in the state—representing 1.2 jobs for every unemployed person—it’s critical that we build on this momentum.
“We can’t take our eyes off the future as we look to grow Connecticut’s workforce.
“The CBIA Foundation has commissioned a report, scheduled to be released next month, that features strategic, long-term recommendations for growing the state’s economy and expanding opportunities for all residents.
“We’ve spent months engaging with stakeholders from the business, education, nonprofit, and public sectors to understand the challenges and opportunities key to unlocking the state’s economy.
“Many of those opportunities reside with solutions in the education and workforce development systems.”
CBIA is Connecticut’s largest business organization, with thousands of member companies, small and large, representing a diverse range of industries from every part of the state. For more information, please contact Scott Beaulieu (860.244.1929).
