An annual award from Citizens Bank recognizes small businesses and helps strengthen the communities where the winning firms are located.

Small businesses that have operated for at least two years and have up to $3 million in revenue can apply for the Small Business Community Champion Award Contest.

The annual contest is open to any for-profit small business located in Citizens Bank's 11-state  footprint, which includes Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, New York, and New Jersey.

The contest, now in its fourth year, will award $10,000 each to 30 small businesses, including at least 10 minority-owned and 10 women-owned small businesses.

This year's award pool—$300,000—is the largest to date.

To enter, a small business must answer three questions with a maximum of 100 words each and upload a photo to the nomination website.

The questions are:

  • How would you use the Citizens Small Business Community Champion Award to strengthen and sustain your business?
  • How would you use the award to support your community’s growth?
  • How is your business adapting to meet the evolving needs and behaviors of your customers and/or community?
  • Nominations are open until March 1, 2021 at 5 pm Eastern. See the contest website for more information.
