Top 10 Safety Violations for 2012

OSHA recently announced its top 10 most frequently cited safety violations for fiscal year 2012. Among the categories are some familiar hazards:

  1. Fall protection: general requirements
  2. Hazard communication
  3. Scaffolding
  4. Respiratory protection
  5. Ladders
  6. Machine guarding
  7. Powered industrial trucks
  8. Electrical: wiring methods
  9. Lockout/tagout
  10. Electrical: general requirements

In 2011, the top three violations were, in order, scaffolding, fall protection, and hazard communication.

The list was presented again this year during the National Safety Council annual congress and expo.
