U.S. Economy In Solid Growth Mode, Connecticut Still At Risk

U.S. job numbers for February were a nice surprise.
Despite rotten winter weather, the nation gained 295,000 jobs (well ahead of most analysts’ expectations), and unemployment dropped to 5.5 percent from 5.7 percent.
While the good news is tempered slightly by January’s revised jobs numbers (minus 18,000 from first report) and fewer folks in the labor force, overall it reinforces that the U.S. economy is solidly in growth mode.
However, major hurdles exist for Connecticut to join the parade.
A tax proposal that could torpedo businesses’ job-creating investments is now before the state legislature.
If that can be rejected, perhaps Connecticut can get its full share of the future job growth that will occur in the rest of the nation.
