CBIA President and CEO John Rathgeber was the keynote speaker for graduation ceremonies at the Academy for Engineering and Green Technology (AoEGT) in Hartford last month.

“Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t accomplish something,” he told the graduates. “You have already done things that surpass many people’s expectations, and you will continue to do so. Most importantly, remember that the whole world is open to you in ways that were not true for your parents or people of my generation.”

CBIA’s Education Foundation helped design AoEGT, coordinates its business-led advisory board, and helps students prepare for successful careers.

Deb Presbie, CBIA Education Foundation program manager, spoke at the annual meeting of the National Fund for Workforce Solutions in Chicago in June. Presbie spoke about the wide range of jobs and career pathways across many industry sectors for drivers, dispatchers, material handlers, and logistics personnel. In Connecticut, the Education Foundation is managing a Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics (TDL) workforce partnership, funded by the Workforce Solutions Collaborative of Metro Hartford. This new partnership will identify the skills needed and career pathways available in TDL, and then help connect companies with talent.
