Workforce

CBIA and its affiliates work closely with a number of key partners statewide to strengthen the talent pipeline and promote economic growth.

Capital Workforce Partners

As the state’s regional Workforce Investment Board in North Central Connecticut, Capital Workforce Partners coordinates programs and initiatives to develop a skilled, educated and vital workforce.


Connecticut Board of Regents

The Board of Regents for Higher Education governs Connecticut State Colleges and Universities–four state universities; 12 community colleges; and Charter Oak State College.


Connecticut Department of Economic & Community Development

DECD is the state’s lead agency responsible for strengthening Connecticut’s competitive position in the rapidly-changing, knowledge-based global economy. The agency takes a comprehensive approach, incorporating community development, transportation, education, and arts and culture.


Connecticut Department of Labor

The state’s Department of Labor assists workers and employers to become competitive in the global economy, taking a comprehensive approach to meeting the needs of workers and employers, and the other agencies that serve them.


Connecticut State Board of Education

The Connecticut State Board of Education is responsible for general supervision and control of the educational interests of the state, including preschool, elementary and secondary education, special education, vocational education and adult education. It also serves as the board of education for the 17 regional technical high schools.


Connecticut State Department of Education

Through leadership, curriculum, research, planning, evaluation, assessment, data analyses and other assistance, the department helps to ensure equal opportunity and excellence in education for all Connecticut students. The department is responsible for distributing funds to all Connecticut public school districts and operates the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System.


Connecticut Technical High School System

Provides a world class, unique, and rigorous learning environment for high school students and adult learners that prepares students for post-secondary education, including apprenticeships and immediate productive employment, and engages regional, state, national and international employers and industries in a vibrant collaboration.


Goodwin University

Nonprofit higher education institution of higher education founded in 199, with the goal of serving a diverse student population with career-focused degree programs that lead to strong employment outcomes.


Hartford Public Schools

Offers school choice, allowing families to request the school setting they feel fits their needs best. This includes varied approaches and schools with areas of specialized focus, such as Asian Studies, Expeditionary Learning, Engineering and Green Technology, and Montessori.


National Academy Foundation

Partners with high schools in high-needs communities to enhance systems at low cost by implementing small learning communities within traditional schools. NAF gives business the opportunity to shape America’s future workforce by transforming the learning environment to include STEM infused industry-specific curricula and work-based learning experiences, including internships.


Raytheon Technologies

Raytheon Technologies serves customers in the commercial aerospace, defense, and building industries and ranks among the world’s most respected and innovative companies. Raytheon inspires students to embrace science, technology, engineering, and math, supporting the development of the next generation of engineers, scientists, and finance professionals by sponsoring primary school to university-level programs.


ReadyCT

ReadyCT logoReadyCT is the K-12 education affiliate of CBIA. Working together, CBIA and ReadyCT support programs that bring business, civic and education leaders together to advance career-connected learning for students. A key focus is work-based learning opportunities in high-demand industries including advanced manufacturing, engineering, and information technology. Emphasis is placed on recruiting underrepresented students (girls and students of color) to explore these exciting fields.


United Way of Central & Northeastern Connecticut

The largest United Way in Connecticut—and the second largest in New England—engages people to improve lives and change community conditions, bringing together diverse stakeholders around a vision of creating positive change to achieve long-lasting results for children and families.


Workforce Solutions Collaborative of Metro Hartford

A collaborative and network of public/private stakeholder organizations that invests in the development of an educated, self-sufficient workforce with skills regional employers need to successfully compete in today’s economy.
