James Rocco is assistant counsel for CBIA, Connecticut’s largest business organization.
As a member of CBIA’s policy team, he is responsible for supporting and representing Connecticut businesses on energy and technology issues as well as environment, consumer protection, state contracting, and business law and liability.
Prior to joining CBIA, Rocco worked as an administrative enforcement attorney for the Department of Consumer Protection regulating occupational licenses for the construction trades.
He also spent nine years working as a caucus staff attorney at the Connecticut General Assembly, splitting his time between the House and Senate.
Before his legal career, Rocco owned and operated a small home improvement contracting business headquartered in Granby.
His experiences as a state regulator and a small business owner give him unique insight into how legislative policy can impact the day-to-day life of a small business owner.
Rocco holds a bachelor’s degree from Wagner College and a juris doctorate from Quinnipiac University School of Law.
He lives in Avon with his wife and their two children.
