Connecticut Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML)

Save Money with a Private PFML Plan

CBIA has partnered with The Hartford to offer a private Connecticut Paid and Family Medical Leave (PFML) plan to CBIA members. Employers may choose to offer a private PFML plan as an alternative to the state-run plan and receive a streamlined, integrated approach to administration and claims.

What is PFML?

The Connecticut Paid Family and Medical Leave Act of 2019 was enacted to provide wage replacement benefits to eligible workers in Connecticut who need time off from work to:

  • Welcome and bond with a new child (through birth, adoption, or foster placement)
  • Care for a seriously ill family member
  • Tend to their own serious health condition, not related to their job
  • Donate an organ or bone marrow
  • Care for and/or support the needs of a family member in the military
  • Tend to personal needs as a victim of family violence

Benefits & Savings

Our private plan offers the same benefits, protections, and rights as the state plan. Going private can offer employers significant savings because, unlike the state, we use the company’s demographics to determine rates.

Service & Administration

Members of CBIA who enroll in our program benefit from an exceptional administrative experience. Employees filing claims gain access to The Hartford’s exemplary customer service and processing center, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of income replacement benefits. Companies that opt for disability benefits through CBIA Health Connections will value the streamlined process and convenience of managing both disability and paid leave benefits under one roof.

CBIA IS FIGHTING TO MAKE CONNECTICUT A TOP STATE FOR BUSINESS, JOBS, AND ECONOMIC GROWTH. A BETTER BUSINESS CLIMATE MEANS A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR EVERYONE.
