Mohegan Sun Gaming and Entertainment president and CEO Ray Pineault is the keynote speaker for CBIA’s April 21 2022 Connecticut Economic Update conference in Trumbull.

Pineault will discuss the company’s pandemic rebound, how it’s addressing the labor shortage crisis, and the growth opportunities from legal sports wagering and other initiatives.

“Exciting times.” Mohegan Sun CEO Ray Pineault talks with CBIA BizCast host Ali Warshavsky.

A Mohegan tribal member, Pineault took over as interim CEO in 2021 after four years as general manager of the casino.

“We look forward to the growth and expansion of sports wagering in Connecticut,” Pineault told CBIA’s BizCast recently

“It’s an exciting time to bring gaming to Connecticut in this century and to be in the same realm as our competitors like New Jersey who have had sports betting and iGaming for years.”

Transportation, Immigration

Department of Revenue Services commissioner Mark Boughton, appointed by Gov. Ned Lamont to oversee how the state spends $5.4 billion in federal infrastructure funds, leads a discussion on transportation priorities with Pat Munger Construction president David DeMaio, UPS vice president Tom Jensen, and Santa Energy chair Tom Santa.

Gartner’s Chet Geschickter challenges current notions around economic development, making the case for leveraging digital ecosystems to build a strong, vibrant, modern economy.

Immigration reform is one component of a comprehensive solution to the labor shortage, an issue that predates the pandemic in Connecticut.

Murtha Cullina’s Dana Bucin, Shipman & Goodwin’s Brenda Eckert, and AI Engineers Inc.’s Abul Islam explore immigration’s role in helping fill the state’s 117,000 job openings.

The conference kicks off at 7:30 am at the Trumbull Marriott Shelton with a networking breakfast, with the program running from 8:30-noon.

The Connecticut Economic Update 2022 is made possible through the generous support of KeyBank with additional support from AI Engineers.
