2023 Small Business Person of the Year: Control Station’s Dennis Nash

The leader of a Manchester software company is Connecticut’s 2023 small business person of the year. 

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Connecticut district office announced Control Station CEO Dennis Nash as this year’s award winner March 16. 

The Connecticut-based company offers manufacturers a growing portfolio of software-based solutions to solve difficult control-related challenges. 

Nash is among several categories of winners in industries across the state who will be honored at the CBIA and SBA National Small Business Week SBA Awards & Resource Expo May 4. 

2023 Winners

“Entrepreneurs are not only making a living for themselves; they are making their neighborhoods vibrant places to live and work, demonstrating their resiliency and flexibility that is contributing to our nation’s economic strength,” said SBA Connecticut district director Catherine Marx. 

Other awardees include:

  • Exporter of the Year: Andrew Zeppa, Element 119
  • Minority Owned Small Business of the Year: Jay McLaurin & Henry Smith III, FAD Mechanical 
  • Manufacturer of the Year: Pedro Soto, Hygrade 
  • Microenterprise of the Year: Carol DiCarlo, Cheshire Equestrian         
  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year: Brianna Regine Walston, Brianna Regine Visionary Consulting 
  • Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year: Jeffrey Nodden, Manchester Awning 
  • Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year: Alisha Lynn Simpson-Watt, Collaborative ABA 

“These leaders excelled in a challenging year following the pandemic,” CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima said. 

“They represent the thousands of businesses, who employ more than 740,000 Connecticut workers that keep Connecticut’s economy moving.” 

CBIA is working in collaboration with SBA Connecticut to promote small businesses during National Small Business Week April 30 through May 6.
