CBIA Service Corp. Announces Leadership Transition Plans

CBIA today announced that Philip Vogel, president of CBIA Service Corp., will retire June 30, 2017.
Ken Comeau, senior vice president of CBIA Service Corp., will succeed Vogel as president effective July 1, 2017.

CBIA Service Corp. manages the state’s leading private healthcare exchange for small businesses and provides other services to member companies.

Vogel joined CBIA Service Corp. in 1987 as senior vice president. He spearheaded the development of CBIA Health Connections in 1995 to provide health insurance solutions for Connecticut small businesses.
“Phil’s leadership and expertise will be greatly missed,” said Joe Brennan, CBIA president and CEO.

“As part of the group that created Health Connections, he helped build an exceptional product for small business owners and it continues to be one of the most successful private exchanges in the country.

“He guided CBIA Service Corp. through challenging times, leading the entire Health Connections team as they provide an outstanding product to thousands of small businesses and help them understand and navigate the complexities of healthcare regulations.”

Comeau joined CBIA Service Corp. in 1990 as director of product development and was later named vice president of sales, products, and services. In 2014, he was promoted to senior vice president.

“Ken has played an instrumental role ensuring that we deliver the type and range of business solutions and quality service that our members desire,” Vogel said today.

“His expertise and knowledge, along with his leadership ability, make him a great choice for this next role.”

Comeau will be responsible for all products and services offered through the CBIA Service Corp., including: Health Connections, one of the nation’s leading health insurance programs for small businesses; life, disability, dental, vision, and other ancillary insurance products; energy aggregation and procurement services; several discount purchasing programs; and additional value-added employer services.

“I greatly appreciate the trust and confidence Joe and Phil have placed in my abilities and the support they’ve shown me,” said Comeau.
