Connecticut Agency Receives Disaster-Readiness Grant

The Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency (CCRPA) has received a $170,000 grant from the federal government to develop a disaster resiliency plan for central Connecticut, which was severely affected by Hurricane Irene in 2011.

Under the grant, CCRPA will conduct a study to identify vulnerabilities in the region’s power generation and transmission systems, transportation network, and flood control systems, and will develop a plan for a prioritized, coordinated response to future disasters.

Bristol-based CCRPA promotes policies and programs to benefit the towns of Bristol, Burlington, New Britain, Plainville, Plymouth and Southington.

New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wyoming also received similar funds to help communities recover economically from recent natural disasters.
