Improvements sought in recording, tracking

In a move to have a wider impact on the construction industry, OSHA has implemented a new targeted programmed inspection plan. This new plan cancels section B.1.b. (2) of OSHA Instruction CPL 02-00-025 1995 Scheduled Systems for Programmed Inspections, but does not include general industry or maritime work-sites.

The change was in part spurred by the agency’s limitations. OSHA’s resources limits its inspection activity to approximately 5% of construction projects. Consequently, targeting systems that specifically identify hazards or a narrow range of construction activity will be developed.

The most significant change is the improvement in recording and tracking in the OSHA Information System (OIS) and the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS).
