Republican Wins 61st House

Republican Tami Zawistowski won a special election last week to fill a vacancy in the 61^st House District caused by the passing of State. Rep. Elaine O’Brien. Zawistowski , a small business owner, now represents the district which includes East Granby, Suffield and parts of Windsor.
On Thursday, April 24 in Hamden and New Haven, there will be a special election to fill the 94^th House District seat that opened when its previous representative, Gary Holder-Winfield, won a special election to the State Senate for the 10^th District.
With Zawistowski’s election, the House has 54 Republicans and 96 Democrats, with the one remaining open seat in the 94^th House.
