Harris Beach Murtha Grows Energy Team

Harris Beach Murtha has announced a new addition to its energy industry team. 

Daniel Canavan joined the team as partner, returning to his roots after spending time working as an executive for major energy companies in the northeast. 

Harris Beach Murtha’s energy industry team leader William Flynn said Canavan joins the team at a time when the energy field is transforming rapidly.

“Dan is well-versed in both the legal and business challenges facing our clients, and he brings a wealth of experience to the firm.”

He added that Canavan brings practical experience and a client’s perspective. 

Industry Experience 

Prior to joining the firm, Canavan served as the vice president of regulatory affairs for a leading U.S. energy company. 

During that time, he led the state regulatory organization for Connecticut and Massachusetts-based operating companies. 

He’s also held senior legal positions at a large energy conglomerate in the region.

During this time, he’s had the opportunity to engage on almost every major regulatory proceeding in Connecticut over the past 15 years, including rate cases, storm investigations and change-of-control proceedings.

Canavan is not the first new addition to Harris Beach Murtha’s energy industry team. 

Medea Asatiani, an attorney who’s represented governments and large industrial, commercial and institutional energy consumers before federal and state agencies, joined the team earlier this year.
