Liberty Bank Foundation Awards Grants to Greater Hartford Nonprofits
Nine nonprofits serving the Greater Hartford area are receiving grants totalling $75,000 thanks to the Liberty Bank Foundation.
The grants, announced July 6, will be used to support programming focused on workforce education, summer enrichment, affordable housing, and entrepreneurial support.
“The tremendous work of these nine organizations aligns perfectly with Liberty’s mission to improve the lives of our customers, teammates and communities for generations to come – and they do just that for countless individuals of all ages in Greater Hartford,” said Liberty Bank president and CEO David Glidden.
Glidden is also president of the Liberty Bank Foundation.
Community Impact
Grant recipients include Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity.
The nonprofit received $25,000 for its Northeast Neighborhood-Hartford Build.
The project will build homes for six families in the northeast neighborhood of Hartford.
YMCA of Metropolitan Hartford received $10,000 for its Y-BELL Powers Scholars Academy.
The summer learning program serves more than 200 students each summer, helping them build literacy and math skills along with social and emotional development.
“The YMCA of Greater Hartford is grateful for the Liberty Bank Foundation’s continued support of our Y-BELL Power Scholars Academy summer learning program,” said president and CEO Harold Sparrow.
“Together, we are working towards closing the academic achievement gap for underserved youth in the Hartford, East Hartford, and West Hartford communities.”
