The state’s largest business organization has launched a statewide campaign designed to raise awareness around the critical issues that will shape the state’s economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

CBIA’s ‘Rebuilding Connecticut’ campaign will run across a variety of digital, social, and traditional media platforms through the rest of 2020 and into next year’s General Assembly session.

CBIA president and CEO Joe Brennan said today the campaign focuses on a key theme—restoring our economy in full and making it more vibrant and robust than it was pre-pandemic.

“We know this won’t be easy,” Brennan said, “but we’ve been through tough times before, and the people of Connecticut want to see all stakeholders work together to make it happen.”

The campaign’s first video spot recognizes the efforts of frontline healthcare workers, first responders, state agencies, and private sector employers as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surged in Connecticut.

“First and foremost we want to thank frontline healthcare workers and first responders for their herculean efforts,” Brennan said.

“We also want to share some of the stories of our friends and neighbors, our local employers and workers, who moved mountains to support Connecticut’s COVID-19 response.

“Let’s rebuild better and faster than other states. Let’s get people back to work.”

“That includes manufacturers across the state who rapidly transformed production lines to make critical medical supplies, helping address the shortage of personal protective equipment, hospital beds, and ventilators.

“Not to mention the Connecticut companies that are leading the efforts to find a vaccine and those businesses that donated millions of dollars and other resources to response efforts.”

Brennan said that over the coming months, CBIA’s campaign will raise public awareness about the policy issues that are central to the successful rebuilding of Connecticut’s economy.

“We have an historic challenge ahead of us, one that can only be addressed successfully if we dramatically reshape the relationship between job creators and government,” he said.

“We need a new way of thinking, a collaborative approach that focuses on promoting and driving private sector growth.

“Let’s rebuild better and faster than other states. Let’s get people back to work.”
