Champions for Change: InCord’s Meredith Shay

InCord CEO Meredith Shay says the family owned manufacturer would see real benefits if state lawmakers allowed small businesses to use research and development tax credits.

“These tax credits help us to develop our products and continue to grow our company,” she said.

Shay says companies like her Colchester-based custom safety netting manufacturer are at an extreme disadvantage to larger companies, which can access these state growth incentives.

Without access to these tax credits, Shay says it’s very difficult for Connecticut small businesses to find the capital and resources to grow and add jobs.

CBIA is calling for lawmakers to level the playing field for struggling small businesses and help them recover from the pandemic and invest in the future.
