Any electrician, engineer, or other profession who works with electricity knows it can be dangerous.

Others, including office workers and sales people, work with electricity indirectly and may also be exposed to electrical hazards.

Because electricity has long been recognized as a serious workplace hazard, OSHA’s electrical standards are designed to protect employees exposed to dangers, including electric shock, electrocution, fires, and explosions.

To protect these workers, employers must think about preventing injuries and providing their employees with the right equipment for the job.

Video

A free new video developed by the Region 6 OSHA Training Institute Education Centers offers guidance on preventing injuries and fatalities from common hazards of working with electricity.

The one-hour video will be available for viewing beginning Jan. 27.

The video focuses on:

  • Personal protective equipment
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • Arc flash
  • Best practices
  • Resources

You must register to access the video.
