SBA Names Environics Family-Owned Business of the Year
Tolland manufacturer Environics has been named Connecticut’s 2020 family-owned business by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Environics, which operates out of an 11,000 square foot facility on Industrial Park Road, received the Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Business of the Year Award.
Led by president Rachel Stansel, Environics is a world leader in computerized gas flow instrumentation for gas mixers, gas dilution, and calibration systems.
“As a second generation, woman-owned family business, we were honored to be recognized by our regional SBA,” Stansel said.
“At Environics, we are very proud of our Connecticut roots. Our dedicated team includes several employees who have been with us for over 20 years and also newer employees who bring a fresh outlook towards our future.
“We look forward to continuing to expand in the years to come.”
Award
To qualify for the award, which is named after a past SBA regional administrator, a small business must:

- Have a growing workforce
- Have increased sales, profit, and net worth for three consecutive calendar years
- Offer a niche product that is not being adequately addressed by the competition
- Contribute to community-centered projects, including through volunteering
Environics and other Connecticut small businesses will be recognized at a May 9 ceremony at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven.
