Senate Votes on Budget Bill

Early this morning, after hours of debate, the State Senate approved by a 19-17 vote the budget package proposed by Democratic leadership. Democrats joining Republicans in voting against the bill, which will increase taxes by at least $1.4 billion, were Sen. Joan Hartley (D-Waterbury), Sen. Gayle Slossberg (D-Milford) and Sen. Ed Meyer (D-Guilford).

The House is expected to take up the budget bill today.
