CBIA BizCast host Ali Warshavsky speaks with Whitcraft chief operating officer Jacqueline Gallo about the aerospace manufacturer’s work-release program.

Gallo started filling open positions on the second shift at the company’s Eastford facility with Enfield Correctional Institution inmates in 2018.

Gallo said not only did Whitcraft need workers, she also personally witnessed family members have a hard time finding a meaningful career after incarceration.

“They are getting a fair wage and have full benefits,” said Gallo.

“When they get released we keep them on as employees and hope they will continue to work with us.”

Gallo said Whitcraft is working with the state to develop the first women’s work-release program at York Correctional Institution.
