The state’s largest business organization issued the following response to today’s release of the November 2022 employment report

“November’s report shows a number of positive signs, with the private sector adding 3,300 jobs across a wide range of industries,” CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima said.

“However, this report also highlights the ongoing uncertainty and volatility in the job market, with the revision of October’s numbers to a loss of 1,100 jobs and a further decline in the labor force.

“We do not have the available workers to fill all open positions and it is critical that policymakers address the factors behind the state’s worker shortage crisis when the legislative session begins next month.

“Almost half of the incoming legislature supports our Transform Connecticut policy recommendations, including lowering the state’s cost of living, expanding career pathways, and providing more housing.

“We are eager to work with lawmakers and the administration on these common sense solutions to make our economy more vibrant, robust, and equitable.

“The actions that legislators take in the coming months will be critical to drive growth and open doors to opportunity for everyone in Connecticut.
