Amazon’s Expanding Economic Impact

Amazon continues to expand its presence in Connecticut—investing more than $12 billion since 2010, supporting tens of thousands of jobs, and contributing $10 billion to the state’s GDP.
The company currently employs more than 15,000 full- and part-time workers across Connecticut.
Amazon said it also supports more than 10,000 indirect jobs statewide, including in construction, logistics, and professional services.
Amazon’s newly released Economic Impact Report, independently analyzed by Keystone Strategy, details the role it plays in Connecticut’s economy.
Connecticut Network
Amazon’s Connecticut network includes:
- Six fulfillment and sorting centers
- 11 delivery stations
- 13 Whole Foods Market locations
- Six solar farms
- Six sites with on-site solar operations
“Our investments benefit everyone: the customers we serve, our one million American employees, small businesses selling in our stores, the places where we operate, and the U.S. economy as a whole,” said Amazon chief global affairs and legal officer David Zapolsky.
National Investment
Nationally, Amazon invested more than $340 billion in the U.S. in 2025, a record for the company.
The investments include employee compensation, infrastructure, and other initiatives that support economic growth nationwide.

Amazon said small businesses are a key part of that commitment.
The company reports that more than 60% of its U.S. sales come from independent sellers, most of them small and medium-sized businesses.
Independent Sellers
In Connecticut alone, independent sellers sold more than 42 million items through Amazon’s store in 2025.
Average sales per seller exceeded $275,000.
“The internet actually generates demand that brings people into our brick-and-mortar store,” said Mystic Knotwork owner Matt Beaudoin.
The 17-employee small business sells handcrafted nautical knotworks through Amazon Handmade.
Independent sellers in Connecticut sold more than 42 million items through Amazon’s store in 2025.
Beyond its economic footprint, Amazon said it is committed to deepening its roots in Connecticut communities.
The company has delivered more than 900,000 meals to people in need in the state.
Amazon employees also contributed more than 700 volunteer hours.
Amazon also helped connect more than 20,000 students and 800 teachers across Connecticut to computer science learning opportunities.
