State Announces Nonprofit Facility, Technology Grants

Connecticut nonprofits that provide health and human services can now apply for a share of $19.5 million in state funding for building and infrastructure improvements.
The money is the ninth round of the state’s Nonprofit Grant Program, which is administered by the Office of Policy and Management.
Applications are open now and are due Jan. 5, 2027. The state expects to announce awards in spring 2027.
Unlike funding for direct services, the program pays for capital investments that nonprofit providers often struggle to afford.
The goal is to let organizations modernize aging facilities while keeping their limited operating dollars focused on clients.
Requirements
According to state officials, eligible improvements can enhance workplace safety, improve accessibility, reduce operating expenses, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of essential community services.
Examples of eligible projects include:
- Facility alterations, renovations, additions, and new construction
- Health and safety improvements, including projects that support Americans with Disabilities Act compliance
- Energy conservation and efficiency upgrades
- Information technology infrastructure and systems
- Technology that promotes client independence
- Vehicles needed to deliver services
- Property acquisition
Applications
The new round brings total funding made available through the program since 2013 to more than $185 million.
The first eight rounds awarded roughly $166 million to support more than 700 capital projects at nonprofits across the state.
Many nonprofit providers are significant employers, particularly in healthcare, child and family services, and disability services.
Facility and technology upgrades can affect workplace safety, energy costs, and the ability to attract and retain staff, issues Connecticut employers across sectors are also working through.
Application materials and instructions are available through the state’s CTsource procurement portal and on the Nonprofit Grant Program’s page on the OPM website.
