CBIA BizCast: East Hartford Mayor Eyes Silver Lane Changes

CBIA BizCast host Ali Warshavsky speaks with Mike Walsh, the newly elected mayor of East Hartford, about the changes he wants for the Silver Lane corridor.

Pratt & Whitney recently sold the 300-acre former airfield next to Rentschler Field to Massachusetts-based developer National Development.

“That could be a warehouse, that could be a Lowe’s, Home Depot or JCPenny, a PC Richards,” Walsh said.

“We have supply chain issues so a warehouse operation in East Hartford would serve Boston and New York.

“We are a central point. It would provide about 2,000 good paying jobs, something that is a shot in the arm for the community.”

Walsh has lived in East Hartford for 30 years and served as the town’s finance director from 1998 to 2019.

He was undersecretary for strategic initiatives and accountability with the state Office of Policy and Management from 2019 to 2021.
