Dalio Education Invests in Nuvance Health Workforce Program

Dalio Education is making a major investment to help support workforce development and career education for disconnected youth.
The nonprofit announced a $5.1 million donation to Nuvance Health to support its Academy for Career Readiness.
The initiative is designed to empower disconnected young people in the Norwalk and Danbury area—giving them the skills and opportunities they need for successful careers in the healthcare industry.
Nuvance and Dalio worked together to design the Academy for Career Readiness to create pathways for careers in healthcare.
“We are profoundly grateful to Dalio Education for their generous donation,” said Nuvance Health chief human resources officer Katie Cullinan.
Career Education
During the 18-month program, participants will receive training in skills to prepare them for roles with Nuvance Health.
The initiative aims to provide support and wraparound services, hard and soft skill development, and experiential learning opportunities.
Academy graduates will receive access to career development resources including counselors, mentors, scholarships, loan forgiveness, and continuing education opportunities.
“These young people have dreams, aspirations and tremendous potential but lack opportunities.”

The program will initially launch at Norwalk Hospital before expanding to Danbury Hospital.
The goal is to provide employment opportunities for up to 225 young people aged 18-26 who are experiencing disconnection.
“These young people have dreams, aspirations and tremendous potential but lack opportunities and face barriers many of us cannot imagine going through,” said Dalio Education founder and CEO Barbara Dalio.
“What they need are opportunities, and everyone in Connecticut should applaud Nuvance Health for their commitment to providing the programming and mentoring to support young people’s career paths and self-sufficiency.”
Engaging Young People
A Dalio Education report released last year shows there are currently 119,000 disconnected youth between the ages of 14-26 in Connecticut.
Dalio partners with educators, schools, nonprofit organizations, and communities across Connecticut to drive positive youth outcomes by elevating the impact of research and data.
Nuvance Health, part of Northwell Health, said the Academy for Career Readiness will create a model for how public, private, and philanthropic sectors can work together to create measurable change.
“Nuvance Health is proud to pioneer innovative workforce development programs.”

The program is part of Nuvance’s larger workforce development strategy to help young people and adults with barriers to entry.
Cullinan said the initiative also addresses the critical shortage of healthcare workers in Connecticut.
“Nuvance Health is proud to pioneer innovative workforce development programs that not only enhance career opportunities for these young individuals but also ensure a robust and sustainable healthcare workforce for the future,” Cullinan said.
