SBA Hosts Small Business Matchmaking Loan Event
The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Connecticut District Office is hosting a matchmaking event June 4 for lenders and small businesses.
Hosted in partnership with Fairfield University and the Connecticut Small Business Development Center, the Capital Matchmaker event offers start-ups and smaller firms an opportunity to connect with lenders.
The event will be held at Fairfield University’s Dolan School of Business from 8 am-1 pm and includes:
- Private, scheduled meetings with loan officers
- Lender EXPO tables
- Concurrent workshops covering ways to prepare for a loan application
- Information on free and confidential support available through SBA Resource Partners
“This is for folks, small business entrepreneurs to find the right lender and to find access to capital that all of our small businesses need,” said SBA district director Catherine Marx.
“They’ll have a unique opportunity to spend maybe an hour and a half at the event, talking to a number of financial institutions and that can be a game changer for small businesses.”
Marx notes that small businesses that attend the event that want financing will be guaranteed a loan.
“The SBA and the U.S. government will guarantee these loans, anywhere from 50% to 90%,” she said. “That enables the bank to say yes to the loan and the small business.”
