Aerial Lift Simulator Provides Realistic Training

Aerial lifts are powered and mobile platforms used for elevating workers to various heights in many types of industries.

As these lifts can expose workers to fall hazards, training is necessary for anyone using aerial work platforms and equipment.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has created a free aerial lift hazard recognition simulator that allows scissor-and-boom lift operators to safely train in realistic workplaces with multiple dangerous hazard types.

Experienced operators can use the simulator to refresh their knowledge, while new operators can familiarize themselves with potential hazards.

CBIA’s 2019 Safety & Health Conference on Friday, May 17 in Cromwell, includes a breakout session focusing on aerial lifts.

Brian Downham, product safety trainer for Skyjack, will demonstrate what hazards to consider when using an aerial lift and how to address them.

He’ll also examine steps you can take to keep your employees safe and follow newly released ANSI standards.
